Living & Working With Intention 💙

Here at Lorin Beller & Co., we are all about living and working with intention. And living and working with Intention means consciously directing our actions, thoughts, and choices toward our values, goals, and aspirations in order to have the impact we want to have in the world. It involves being present in the moment, making deliberate decisions, and aligning our actions with our inner values and beliefs. When we live with intention, we become more in integrity with ourselves in several ways:

  1. Clarity of purpose: Living with intention requires us to clarify our values, desires, and long-term goals. By understanding what truly matters to us, we can align our actions and choices accordingly. This clarity allows us to make decisions that are in harmony with our authentic selves, leading to a sense of congruence and integrity.

  2. Alignment of actions and values: When we live with intention, we strive to ensure that our actions are consistent with our values. We make choices that reflect our principles and beliefs rather than being swayed by external pressures or societal expectations. This alignment between our values and actions strengthens our integrity and reinforces our sense of self.

  3. Authenticity and self-expression: Living with intention encourages us to express ourselves authentically. It involves being true to who we are and embracing our uniqueness. By honoring our own needs, desires, and passions, we allow ourselves to show up as our genuine selves. This congruence between our inner selves and our outward expressions fosters a deeper sense of integrity.

  4. Increased self-awareness: Living with intention necessitates self-reflection and self-awareness. When we consciously examine our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, we gain a deeper understanding of ourselves. This heightened self-awareness enables us to make more informed choices, aligning our actions with our core values and principles.

  5. Enhanced personal growth: Living with intention promotes personal growth and development. By actively engaging in self-improvement, setting meaningful goals, and pursuing continuous learning, we expand our capabilities and evolve as individuals. This growth journey aligns with our inner values and aspirations, leading to a sense of fulfillment and integrity.

  6. Reduced internal conflict: When we live with intention, we minimize internal conflicts and contradictions. We make choices that are in harmony with our values, which reduces the cognitive dissonance that arises from acting against our beliefs. This coherence within ourselves cultivates a sense of peace, authenticity, and integrity.

One of the greatest indicators of not living with intention is that we find ourselves sort of ‘all over’ – we let ‘the world’ sway us into doing things and perhaps we have angst about it… for example, buying a new car to keep up with Joneses when it will cause us to be more stressed financially. Or staying out late because everyone else is when we value feeling well rested in the morning. Or not following through when we say we will do something. Our emotions are more up and down versus more even-keeled when we are living intentionally. We often feel ‘lesser’ about ourselves when we are not living with intention.

Overall, living with intention allows us to cultivate a stronger connection with ourselves and live in alignment with our deepest values. It helps us navigate life with purpose and integrity, fostering a greater sense of authenticity, self-acceptance, and fulfillment. Living and working with intention creates a deeper sense of contentment.
